Bakugan, the collectible card game, is hugely popular with kids. The appeal could come from the magnetic cards or spring-loaded figures. Or it could come from built-in television show and assorted accessories. Either way it is a game that is sweeping the nation. Bakugan are monsters that are revealed in a morphing marble when it meets a ‘gate’ card.

The basics of the Bakugan collectible card game are this: metal ‘Gate’ cards, spring-loaded miniature figures, ‘Ability’ cards, and Traps.

‘Gate’ cards are metal cards that the Bakugan stand on and battle for. ‘Gate’ cards come in silver, gold, or copper.  Silver ‘gate’ cards are normal cards with no extra abilities. Gold ‘gate’ cards are made for individual Bakugan characters. Copper ‘gate’ cards include extra commands such as Stand Off.

The spring-loaded miniature figures appear after the Bakugan ball is rolled out onto the ‘gate’ card. These magnetic balls, which resemble marbles, hold different Bakugan monsters.

‘Ability’ cards come in three colors: blue, green and red. The blue ‘ability’ cards are the most basic and give G-power bonuses based on attribute. The green ‘ability’ cards are the most powerful of the ‘ability’ cards. That means they are the most sought after and therefore, the most expensive. The red ‘ability’ cards are for specific use and are generally played directly before or after a roll.

Traps can be easily differentiated from regular Bakugan from their shape alone. Bakugan are normally round and roll. Traps come in a variety of other shapes and sizes such as pyramids and coins. Traps must be of the same attribute as your Bakugan to be played.

Bakugan is a game that can be played with 2-4 players. Each player chooses 3 ‘gate’ cards, 1 ‘ability’ card, 3 Bakugan marbles, and a Trap.

To begin the game, each player lays a ‘gate’ card facedown at the furthest point from themselves. Each card that is placed facedown must touch the other cards on one side.

Next each player shoots a Bakugan. If the Bakugan lands on a card with another Bakugan and stands up, they will do battle. If a player lands two of its own Bakugan on the same card and they are both standing they win the game automatically. If a player’s Bakugan knocks another player’s off the card they win the game automatically.

To battle players must consult the cards G power. Taking into account traps and ‘ability’ cards, whichever Bakugan has the most G power wins. The winner of each battle gets to capture the Bakugan and its card. Winning the Bakugan collectible card game comes easily after all cards have been captured.

The popular Chaotic card game was orignally know as Grolls & Gorks.  G&G was introduced in 2000, the animated creatures used on these playing cards were mostly inspired by Dracco Heads 2nd edition.  A few new cards were added, they are refered to as location cards.   G&G was not only a TCG (trading card game) but you also play with little plastic coins.  They coins still have the G&G characters on them.  The game still included a few of the creatures from G&G and also some creatures from Dracco Heads.

In 2001 4Kids Entertainment and Apex Marketing signed a contract.  Introducing Chaotic: Now or Never to the United States and Canada.  A few of the original characters were changed in attempts to keep gamers still interested.  A few of the changes included location changes, different weapons, new spell cards and of course the new creatures. The Trading cards also got a new appearance.  There are 244 playing cards in a deck of Chaotic: Now or Never.

Characters in Chaotic: Now or Never include:
Tom, Kazdan, MadCap, Intress, Chaor and Takinom.

The Six tribes in which the characters are a part of are:
The Mipedians, The Danians, The Underworlders, The Overworlders, The Deep-ones and The Frozen.

The original cards (before the new design & creatures) are extremely rare and hard to find.  After the signed contract in 2001 there was an agreement that all of the previous designs were to no longer be sold on the market.  A few lucky fans were able to find a few remaining decks but not many.

In this game the cards are separated into 3 different decks (the main deck, the 2nd deck and the 3rd deck). The main deck carries a variety of creatures, weapons, locations and spell cards.  The 2nd deck carries four different types of discipline cards (power, speed, wisdom and courage).  The 3rd deck carries the power cards. It is the power cards that cause damage to other players.  The power cards all have one of the following numbers; 5,10,15,20,25 and 30.

The game is now available online to play.  Card owners use the code located on each trading card to unlock suprises than be while used while playing the online version of this game.  Due to the newness of the online version, the webmaster is still working on a few issues.  Some of the issues were due to the high volume of interest in the online version of Chaotic: Now or Never.

Magic the Gathering Collectible Card Game is a very strategic and mature card game. It involves five different colors which all represent an aspect of the game. This game combines many different mythical creatures such as Elves, Goblins, Merfolk, Zombies, and Angels. You use these magical creatures in combination with an extreme variety of spells to form combinations and reduce the life points of your opponent to zero or less. Each color represents a theme and a strength which you can use to fit your personality or combine different strengths for a preferred strategy. The colors used in Magic the Gathering are white, black, blue, red and green.

White is a color of purity, and creatures used with white are usually related to angels, noble animals, or humans. With White you’ll battle with a variety of spells which might include healing, protections, and empowerments.

With Blue you pull a variety of water and flying creatures to your arsenal and support them with powerful incantations such as counter spells.

With red you harness the power of the mountains and do battle with creatures like Ogres, Goblins, and Dragons. Your creatures from Red will be supported with a variety of damage dealing spells. Using the ways of nature and creatures such as spiders and elves you can do battle with green.

Greens support spells will empower your creatures to deal more damage and be summoned more quickly.

Last but not least you have Black, which thrives off of death. The armies of zombies and dark creatures are supported by a variety of life taking spells with which the entire scheme and strategy can thrive.

As newer additions of magic come out, they continue to introduce spells for each color that you can show attributes with from another color. However, the main focus of each color will usually be very close to the previously described. The actual game play will consistent if using respective lands to each color in order for you to summon creatures and cast spells in an effort to undo your opponent’s strategy and reduce his life points.

Today there is such a variety of strategies that can be used due to the variety of spells and creature cards, mainly credited to the length of the game being active. With that variety, you can usually build a deck that will fit your personality type and fully enjoy Magic the Gathering Collectible Card Game.

The Yugioh Collectible Card game is a Japanese card game created and published by Konami. It is based on Duel Monsters, a fictional game created by Kazuki Takahashi (a comic artist). The Yugioh card game began in 2002 is many times shortened to TCGI. It has been played all around the world but mainly in North America, Japan, Australia and Europe.

The trading cards are sold by Konami in Asian counties as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: Official Card Game, but everywhere else, Upper Deck has manufactured them until Konami took over in 2009. The future of this new franchise is not known, but Konami is continuing to grow while introducing new cards and creating a new rating
system.

In the fictional setting of films, manga and anime, the game is called Duel Monsters. The trading game is the realization of the game that was invented by author, Kazuki Takahashi. The cards and the rules of the fictional game follow the story’s plot; therefore cannot be an actual trading card game without some changes. The rules of the trading card game are very different from the fictional game. The rules are more consistent, balanced and do not fluctuate as in fictional contexts.

The game begins with a set amount of life points (the official number is 8,000) and a deck with a minimum of 40 cards and a maximum of 60. The game is based on taking turns using Spell, Monster and Trap cards. The goal is to reduce your opponent’s points down to zero by using effects and attacks of other cards. At any point doing the game a player is declared the winner if he/she has any of the following cards:

  1. Exodia the Forbidden One
  2. Right Leg of the Forbidden One
  3. Left leg of the Forbidden One
  4. Right arm of the Forbidden One
  5. Left arm of the Forbidden One

Of course, there are other numerous way to have an ‘instant win’.

Today there are many local card shops who not only sell the cards, but also host tournaments. Konami, Upper Deck and Shonen Jump have had numerous organized tournaments in their local areas. These were known to draw hundreds of players who would compete for prizes such as rare promotional cards. As of February 2009 in North America, all Organized Play Events were cancelled. However, in April of 2009, Konami was able to re-instated Organized Play.

The PK Collectible Card Game is an exciting new CCG.

The Basics

  • Player’s decks consist of 69 cards plus one “avatar”
  • Each Player starts with 0 prestige and 4 Karma.

Card Types

  • Avatar Cards are physical representation of you in the game.  Each has different abilities, and encourages a different deck design.
  • Power Cards provide a bonus or effect on the game state.  A player may only have one power card in play at a time.
  • Influence Cards have special effects on the game state.
  • Troop Cards are used for attack and defense

Starting a Game
A game consists of seven “sorties”, with the winner of each sortie gaining a prestige point.   In the first sortie, players reveal their avatar.  Players then draw cards equal to the number of sorties left (7 the first time, 6 the second, ect.)  During the first sortie players may “rally” by discarding two cards and draw two from their deck at a cost of one point of karma.  During turns, players can play a power cards (replacing their old ones), Influence cards, and a Troop card to end their turn.

Conflict
Players compare power of attackers to the defense of the blockers.  If a player has a Troop card on the table without supporting staff they will receive a penalty of -2 for every rank above the lowest rank one has on the table.  A legend will receive -6  to both it’s offense and defense if there is not a henchman, ally, and champion in play.

Trump
If both players tied in conflict, then suits can trump each other to determine the victor (water beats fire, ect.)  If there is a tie, players will “PK”

PK
PK is where PK Collectible Card Game gets it’s name from.  To PK, Players flip the top card of their decks over.  The defending uses the defense of the flipped card, while the attacker uses the power.  Revealed Influence or Power cards have a value of 0.  Whoever has the higher number wins, if there is a tie then players continue to flip cards until there is a winner.

Aftermath
Players then play any other abilities, discard their influences, and troops returned to their “battle lines”

Scoring
After the 7th sortie, the player with the most troops gains a prestige.  If a player has five more troops than each player they gain 2 prestige, 3 if the total is 6.

Players then discard any troops in play and remove any face down troops from the game.  Continue to battle until a player has 7 prestige and wins.

The PK Collectible Card Game is a new and exciting game that everyone should learn.
